![]() ![]() These are a jack-of-all-trades that I would say is the safest pick of the bunch. The soundstage is good, with decent width, but really good depth. Treble is nice and unoffending but maybe a little rolled off. Mid-range is very smooth and articulate, and vocals sound consistently good. It’s impressive how much bass these speakers have with a 5.25” driver. Their bass is the most extended, with great tone and texture. They project the sound in a way that is intoxicating. These are the most balanced speakers of the group from top to bottom. These are well-rounded speakers that sound good with pretty much whatever you throw at them. Their soundstage is the widest but not very deep. I prefer using tone controls to pull the treble back by 2 dB to get it in better balance with the rest of the speaker’s sonic spectrum. There is a lot of air, spaciousness, and detail. Treble is by far the most extended and revealing. This gives a nice clarity to their sound, but I prefer a little more meat on the bones. Male vocals sound the leanest and drier than they do through the other speakers. Their mid-range is the coolest and sounds a bit scooped out in comparison to the bass, and especially the treble. That’s neither a good nor a bad thing, just an observation. ![]() Bass is well extended and articulate, however I get a sense that the continuum material is imparting a specific tone here. These are the brightest and most revealing of the group. These are speakers for those who appreciate mid-range and softer music. They lack the excitement that I prefer for those genres. With hard rock and metal, they are too laid back and subdued for my taste. These speakers excel with Jazz and lighter fare. They have a wide and fairly deep soundstage. Treble is delicate, airy, and detailed, but not the most extended. Mid-range is the warmest and meatiest, lending itself really well to male vocals. Their bass isn’t the deepest, but the mid-bass weight makes them sound fuller than they really are. These are the warmest and most laid-back of the group. I will give a further review after trying them all with a sub. I listened to CD’s I’m intimately familiar with, from multiple genres, powered by a 250 watts per channel Parasound amp. This review is based on listening to each pair of speakers without a subwoofer. This is intended for civil discussion and is only my personal subjective opinion.
